sports camp, part 1
Saturday, November 20, 2010 9:07 PM
I may never be able to wear a skirt again in my life. For the shame of my legs. My sun burned, mosquito, sand fly and bed bug bitten legs. I might have to wear mask too. For i have bites on my FACE. Does Alethea have an astronaut suit? I might have to borrow it. Right now, i guess i just have to use the blanket.
.......................

Okay so Sports Camp has officially ended, and above is the souvenirs i have collected. Not the prettiest little momentos around but, memorable, very memorable. In fact, sports camp itself was memorable. It may have been painful and tiring, but it was fun, rewarding and embarrassing too. Not to mention LONG. So i'll split it into 2 parts:

Part 1 - intro and 1st day
Part 2 - everything else

So the start of it was already epic fail - for me anyway. So i ran to school and (thank heavens) was perfectly punctual. Too bad, on arriving, i realised i had not brought my bottle. UH-OH. I panicked and ran to the canteen, and (DUM-DUM-DUM) the drink store was NOT open. Yikes. So being the honest student that i was, i immediately informed Mr J, who panicked too. My team mates who were sitting in front looked ready to burst into laughter any minute, and me? Mortified. Just mortified.

Thank lord the drink store opened last minute enabling me to buy 2 bottles before making a grand escape. Too bad Mr J, believing that i had no bottle, bought one for me too. Leaving me as the girl who had no bottles at all, to the idiot with more water than any other sports girl on campus.

Anyway, from then on, it was all smooth sailing. I was buddies with Li Ting and partner buddies with Rowena and Hai Yeng. The ferry ride was SUPER FUN. Me and Hai Yeng didn't puke at all and had a feast together with every other Table Tennis member there. Lunch was better than expected and the camp was on a gorgeous beach. Sounds good, does it not? Well, smooth sailing ended there. Activities started and Hill Trek was first.

I'll have to say, in my opinion we were lucky. We had Hill Trek first and that is (ask anyone) the most tedious activity there. Think big, steep hill with ALOT ALOT OF MUD. And it wasn't climbing it that killed us. It was getting there. We had to cross muddy banks, watery banks and THORNY BANKS. Everybody's shoes were destroyed. Some people fell. My seniors being one of them. Worse still, one of my senior's hands were full of splinters once we crossed all the banks. I think they're still in her hand now. And when the instructor looked at us with a (in-my-eyes) mocking smile stretched across his lips and said: Now lets start the hill trek, i think i heard myself cry.

In a positive light, the team bonded ALOT. I made A LOT of friends on this trip and got closer to everyone. By the way, we practically pulled ourselves up the hill, with a ROPE no less. The pretty view and fun the team had together on top was immensely satisfying but what was not, was rolling back down the hill. And as for me? Just when i thought it was all over, i fell FACE FLAT into then mud. Then i discovered a LEECH and a TICK on my leg. Killed them both. Whoopee, whoop dee doo.

Next we went Boom Netting, where you basically jump off a boat into a net in the sea. Sad that i had to sit this one out because my mother forbade me to do all water sports. But at least i managed to take lots of pictures and have a good time with TLT and Jophelia while waiting for them on the bus.

After a fun bus ride we headed back to camp where we had a good bath. Dinner was great fun and we played the tap finger game and slap lap game. Then we brushed our teeth and went to bed. Okay, as if.

We stayed up till twelve talking and poking each other, with me and sam telling each other stupid jokes. True it was hard to get some shut eye with Sam and Hai Yeng purposely disturbing me but in all,  i had a good sleep. At least i thought it was good, until i woke up the next morning and saw my legs. Scream.

SPORTS CAMP IN 1 NIGHT AND 1 DAY (GASP!)
Tuesday, November 16, 2010 5:59 AM
That's right people! The title says it all!!! In 36 hours my butt will be on a boat heading in the direction of Bintan!!!

OH HOW EXCITING! HOW THRILLING! THE OPPORTUNITY OF AN ERA!!! HOW-oh whatever.

Truth be told, i've been feeling a little bit ill and VERY tired lately, due to my cold. 50% chance my monthlies might come during the trip and honestly, i'm afraid i'll collapse half-way.  Oh weeellll, i signed up already, didn't i? Plus, my friends will be there too so if i retch out my lunch, i'm sure they'll drag me back to camp. After all, its too much to hope that they'll carry me.

Anyways, hopefully the camp will be awesome and i'll come back only a tiny bit darker. And who knows? I might have so much fun there that'd i name it my paradise, learn indian, convert all my money to rupiah and build a rattan house there by the sea.

Hmm... considering the stories about the toilets there, maybe that's a tad bit unlikely...

The Beetle Of Good Fortune
Friday, November 12, 2010 7:28 AM
You may think its VERY FUNNY for a thumb-sized beetle to LATCH its hairy legs into a girl's hair, when said girl is cheering for her teamates. ESPECIALLY, when said girl is me.

This may be a new approach to my blog, since i usually start out calmly. BUT, this beetle deserves it.

Lets start the story:
Its the table tennis competition and Alethea and I are watching Sam and Li Ting play a doubles match.

Everything is fine and dandy, is it not? Think again.

Out of sudden, some girl from raffles approaches me in a catious manner. The conversation goes something like this....

Girl: There's something in your hair.
Me: Oh. *brushes hair calmly*
Girl: Its alive.
Me: *stops brushing hair*

1...2...3....

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Next thing you know, the every occupant of the room is staring at me as i rip my hair tie off, shouting. Worse still, no one comes to my aid. Oh lord. First they say its BIG. Then they claim its a bee. BIG+BEE=HORNET THAT MAY KILL U ANY SECOND - naturally i freaked out. Then Alethea - brave and mighty hero she is - walks up and calmly pokes it. "Oh it's a beetle." *poke*

Well at least she did SOMETHING. Better than the rest of them who sat there laughing their asses off. So i flick my hair left, right , center as people watched and pointed. My team mates playing later commeted on the shame i had brought on the school and how they wanted to run away.

LIKE I WANTED A TOE SIZED BEETLE ON MY CRANIUM. Took me a while to get it off, and when i returned to my group, i was red faced with SHAME. And then Weelin and a certain senior named Jody teased and taunted me with a - COCKROACH- statement, making me squeal and jump. Not my most glamorous moment, per say. So Weelin proceeded to laugh for a good 20 minutes. I was not pleased. It was only then when i realised that at that moment, both school teams were wining and indeed, won at the end. Hence, i dubbed the beetle - the beetle of good fortune- and the nonexistent cockroach - the magical cockroach-, before running around to inform everyone on the insects' new names.

Not my most glamorous moment, lets leave it at that. Though it didn't help that a little girl continued to laugh at me as i made my departure. I'm the beetle woman now... the beetle woman of good fortune. Who is off to soak her head in water. Farewell.

The market place - before and after -
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 10:32 PM
Strange topic to choose, isn't it? The market place.

I could have wrote about Alethea and Weelin's B'dae party, which was super fun. We played computer games, went out to eat Prata. Then on the way back, went to no less than 2 playgrounds, one of which was situated next to the prettiest Longkang i've ever laid eyes upon. True, we all got darker, but at least it was fun. Back at Jia Hui's house we made a brownie cake and blew bubbles, took lots of pictures and after that went to the park - again. But then, the day seemed to be lacking something. It starts with a W and rhymes with WANG PAN CHENG.

Also, i could have went on about how the Qiu and I planned the great event. This however, is difficult to summarise, considering it includes many tedious phone calls, rushed meetings and a strange argument on a difference between a pan, a baking tin, a frying pan and a wok. I shan't further elaborate.

So instead, i shall go on about my morning at the Wet Market. Let me tell you, it has been A.G.E.S since i've gone there. Blame tests, homework, teachers, tests, CCA, review tests, books.... oh have i mentioned TESTS????

Anyway, i ate a piping hot bowl of fish ball noodle soup before setting off on a grocery mission with my mum. And i was horrified to find out, that my understanding of dialects had failed me. Dialects felt like a foreign language once again, when it should be second nature for me to speak and understand them. OH WELL... Nevertheless, i had a new task in mind today - learn how to select good groceries. And who better to teach me than my experienced mother? So today, i learnt how to choose fish, melons, Kai Lan, beans, how much meat to buy...ETC. Well, not in detail, but at least i'm trying, right?

So any way, enough crapping. I've got a competition in a few hours and CIP tomorrow. Followed by more competitions on SAT and SUN, with a rushed CIP after Sundays competition. Oh. Woe betide me:(

Ten Years Later
Thursday, November 4, 2010 9:15 AM
Call it random, but me and my friends were pondering on the prospect of the phrase "ten years later", earlier today. I mean, everyone thinks of their future, right? Be it doctor, lawyer, Indian Chief, ballerina or Mighty Dinosaur, at some point, everybody thinks where they'd be ten years from now.

Think about it: Ten years later, who knows how much a person can change?

And i'm not just talking about physical changes.

A genius could become an idiot.
A fierce, intimidating woman could become a weak, fickle, flirt.
An utterly insane person could become a solemn, straight-faced, cold figure.
I could stop loving chocolate (impossible!).
A bully could become the bullied.
An innocent girl could become a seductive lady with ten men hanging onto her every last giggle. (gasp!)

Think about the possibilities! But does anyone ever wonder if ten years from now, we would always be friends with the people we consider friends now? Does anyone ever fear that the coming future, isn't a bright ball of sunshine? Well, i'm sure someone out there (other than me) does.

Still, I believe that ten, twenty years from now, we would still keep in touch. Once a friend, always a friend, right?

Yeah well, right now, i can pretty much picture all of us.

Ten years from now, siting around a table in starbucks, joking and laughing. Sharing embarrassing stories while claiming it all never happened, but inside knowing (and feeling triumph) that it really did.
So maybe ten years from now, you'll meet me, only to find a calm, serene lady with eyes that don't droop. But then, it is TEN years from now, so till then, we'll never really know.

How can you be so bored with so much things to do?
Tuesday, November 2, 2010 2:18 AM
It's a strange sensation, to feel bored when you have a bulk of chinese, english and mathematic to contend to. Not to mention a list of -to be watched- dramas and songs needed to downloaded. Maybe its because i DON'T WANT to do any of these things? Or maybe it's because i REFUSE to do anything?

Hmmm... anyway... i'm still feeling BORED.

I thought i'd find something else to do yesterday when we were supposedly going to have table tennis trainning.

Key word: supposedly

Yes, thats right. I reached there at about 1.40 p.m., and loittered around with no destinatrion in mind till about half past 2. Took about 5 minutes for people to arrive, and me to start a meaningless bicker with the first person in sight. Its a gift, i tell you. Then i had a sit-up competition with a friend before everyone came and we FINALLY started getting ready for training.

As if.

5 minutes into training was all we got before the seniors proclaimed......NO MORE TRAINING! GO HOME!....talk about ridiculous.....

Well, at least the sec ones managed to go out to Plaza Singapura to have some fun. And let me tell you, Plaza Sing is way cooler than what it was last year. Its like, the mini ION or smth now. Anyway, we went to Daiso and the food court and stuff. Honestly, it was pretty fun, beats training at least.

Sad to say when i reached home, i was once again.......bored.
