sports camp, part 1

I may never be able to wear a skirt again in my life. For the shame of my legs. My sun burned, mosquito, sand fly and bed bug bitten legs. I might have to wear mask too. For i have bites on my FACE. Does Alethea have an astronaut suit? I might have to borrow it. Right now, i guess i just have to use the blanket........................ Okay so Sports Camp has officially ended, and above is the souvenirs i have collected. Not the prettiest little momentos around but, memorable, very memorable. In fact, sports camp itself was memorable. It may have been painful and tiring, but it was fun, rewarding and embarrassing too. Not to mention LONG. So i'll split it into 2 parts: Part 1 - intro and 1st day Part 2 - everything else So the start of it was already epic fail - for me anyway. So i ran to school and (thank heavens) was perfectly punctual. Too bad, on arriving, i realised i had not brought my bottle. UH-OH. I panicked and ran to the canteen, and (DUM-DUM-DUM) the drink store was NOT open. Yikes. So being the honest student that i was, i immediately informed Mr J, who panicked too. My team mates who were sitting in front looked ready to burst into laughter any minute, and me? Mortified. Just mortified. Thank lord the drink store opened last minute enabling me to buy 2 bottles before making a grand escape. Too bad Mr J, believing that i had no bottle, bought one for me too. Leaving me as the girl who had no bottles at all, to the idiot with more water than any other sports girl on campus. Anyway, from then on, it was all smooth sailing. I was buddies with Li Ting and partner buddies with Rowena and Hai Yeng. The ferry ride was SUPER FUN. Me and Hai Yeng didn't puke at all and had a feast together with every other Table Tennis member there. Lunch was better than expected and the camp was on a gorgeous beach. Sounds good, does it not? Well, smooth sailing ended there. Activities started and Hill Trek was first. I'll have to say, in my opinion we were lucky. We had Hill Trek first and that is (ask anyone) the most tedious activity there. Think big, steep hill with ALOT ALOT OF MUD. And it wasn't climbing it that killed us. It was getting there. We had to cross muddy banks, watery banks and THORNY BANKS. Everybody's shoes were destroyed. Some people fell. My seniors being one of them. Worse still, one of my senior's hands were full of splinters once we crossed all the banks. I think they're still in her hand now. And when the instructor looked at us with a (in-my-eyes) mocking smile stretched across his lips and said: Now lets start the hill trek, i think i heard myself cry. In a positive light, the team bonded ALOT. I made A LOT of friends on this trip and got closer to everyone. By the way, we practically pulled ourselves up the hill, with a ROPE no less. The pretty view and fun the team had together on top was immensely satisfying but what was not, was rolling back down the hill. And as for me? Just when i thought it was all over, i fell FACE FLAT into then mud. Then i discovered a LEECH and a TICK on my leg. Killed them both. Whoopee, whoop dee doo. Next we went Boom Netting, where you basically jump off a boat into a net in the sea. Sad that i had to sit this one out because my mother forbade me to do all water sports. But at least i managed to take lots of pictures and have a good time with TLT and Jophelia while waiting for them on the bus. After a fun bus ride we headed back to camp where we had a good bath. Dinner was great fun and we played the tap finger game and slap lap game. Then we brushed our teeth and went to bed. Okay, as if. We stayed up till twelve talking and poking each other, with me and sam telling each other stupid jokes. True it was hard to get some shut eye with Sam and Hai Yeng purposely disturbing me but in all, i had a good sleep. At least i thought it was good, until i woke up the next morning and saw my legs. Scream. |
